Christmas is coming…
It’s my favourite time of the year.
And I’ve promised myself I’ll be more organised this year.
{Maybe}
So… I thought you might be interested in these easy DIY wrapping paper ideas
to wrap your presents for Christmas,
or any occasion.
It’s super easy and you can make it yourself.
With the kids even.
Here’s how I made mine.
7 DIY Wrapping paper ideas
You will need:
Black Acrylic Paint
Roll of butchers paper
Flat mixing tray
Water
House paint brush
Flat paint brush
Apple
Feathers
Palm Leaf
Set up lengths of paper in a garage and use rocks to keep the paper secure.
Then mix up paint into a tray to a runny consistency, but not to watery.
Test on a sample piece of paper before making the paper, so you are happy with the effect.
Then use these 7 ideas below or create your own.
1. Criss Cross DIY Wrapping Paper
Mix up some paint with water in a flat tray and grab a house paint brush.
Then make criss cross patterns like above and let dry.
Roll into tubes ready for wrapping.
2. Striped DIY Wrapping Paper
Mix up some paint with water in a flat tray and grab a house paint brush.
Then use both sides of the paintbrush and paint alternate horizontal lines on the paper (see above),
let dry and roll into tubes ready for wrapping.
3. Swish DIY Wrapping Paper
Mix up some paint with water in a flat tray.
Cut an apple in half and use it as a swish brush, rub over paper in random patterns.
Let dry and roll into tubes ready for wrapping.
4. Dash DIY Wrapping Paper
Mix up some paint with water in a flat tray and grab a flat paint brush.
Then dash lines in rough lines as below, let dry and roll into tubes ready for wrapping.
5. Feather DIY Wrapping Paper
Mix up some paint with water in a flat tray.
Place a feather into the paint softly, use your finger to press down gently on the spine of the feather, then gently dab in random patterns on your paper, let dry and roll into tubes ready for wrapping.
6. Palm DIY Wrapping Paper
Mix up some paint with water in a flat tray.
Place the palm leaf into the paint, then dab in random patterns on your paper,
let dry and roll into tubes ready for wrapping.
7. Apple DIY Wrapping Paper
Mix up some paint with water in a flat tray.
Cut an apple in half and use it as a stamp in random patterns.
Let dry and roll into tubes ready for wrapping.
I made a huge batch of these and rolled them up into rolls once dried.
You could experiment with so many other leaves like my bamboo wrapping paper and objects.
It’s a perfect thing to do with the kids over school holiday break if you’re in Australia.
You probably know I’m a fan of black and white,
but,
Why not try different colours?
Fluro, pastels, the possibities are endless.
