They say if you plant a garden…
you plant happiness.
I remember my grandma used to make beautiful flower arrangements.
And my friend’s mum.
{Clever ladies}
I think,
even simple green foliage can make a beautiful flower arrangement.
You can make this easy DIY modern flower arrangement with foliage
you probably already have in your garden.
Here’s how I made this one.
DIY Modern Flower Arrangement
What you will need:
1 floral foam brick
1 shallow tray to hold the oasis
I shallow vessel (I got this boat from here)
Plants from your garden/florist
I used Grevillea, Gum Nuts, Murraya, Viburnum, Wooly Plant, Rhapis Palm and Novelty Poms.
{Chose foliage that has different shades of green and texture}
How to:
Lay your plants out in groups.
Place the oasis in a shallow tray.
(I got mine from my gorgeous local florist)
Then saturate the oasis with water.
You’re ready to create.
Start adding the greenery.
I added Rhapis palm fronds on each side of the oasis.
Tip:
To cut the longer stems into smaller pieces.
Snip close to the part where the leaf joins the stem
and you can get 2-3 stems from one piece.
Then start adding more greenery.
Dabs of Viburnum, Murraya and Wooly plant.
Make a shape like a soft mountain,
taller in the middle
and shorter on the sides.
To finish off…
add the Gum Nuts, Grevillea and Novelty Poms as spots of colour.
Trim down any taller stems to create your soft mountain shape,
then place in your vessel.
{You don’t need a fancy vessel, a white rectangular platter will also look great}
I love the textures of this arrangement against our table.
Even the floor.
Like my soft mountain?
I’ve used the oasis many times as you can see in the pics above.
Try adding 3 white flowers
{Hibiscus or Camellia if you like a bit of colour.}
or
a candle in the middle.
The possibilities are endless.
I like the fact that you could whip one of these up
with greenery you already have in your garden…
or a friendly neighbours.
{and perhaps a couple of special flowers from the florist}
AND,
You can create it yourself.
{Like your own little bit of art therapy.}
It reminds me of my grandma and my friend’s mum.
They knew…
if you plant a garden…
you plant
