I’ve got a beautiful plate.
That used to be my grandmas.
I’ve carried it with me for years.
It used to whisper…
“Please display me”
when I open the drawer it lived in.
I knew I never would…
until now.
I sprayed it with Rust-Oleum Spray Paint.
And now it’s got so many places to live in our house.
You could too, here’s how I did it.
It’s super easy.
Spray paint decor ideas with Rust-Oleum
You will need:
A plate or special piece (This works with plastic, metal and wood too)
Rust-Oleum Matt Black Spray
Clean the object.
Shake can well.
Then apply a coat of Rust-Oleum spray paint following the directions on the can.
Let dry.
Apply a light, second coat.
{I didn’t spray the back of my plate so I could still see who made it}
Voila!
Welcome out of the drawer little plate!
The lovely Pauline and her team at Yamba Paint Place introduced me to this fab paint {and many others}, it has so many uses.
I love that it is super easy to spray and doesn’t run like other spray cans.
And you can spray with the can upside down too!
We have about 5 projects where we have sprayed objects into new life to match our new decor.
But… this one is pretty special.
I love how it’s now Yamba Scandi style.
And,
it’s special story still lives inside.
It could hold some bling…
Or become part of a shelf display.
The best bit is
after all that whispering…
that little plate,
is truly part of our home now.
And…
Grandma’s story is a new piece of art on display at our house
…not tucked away at the back of a drawer.

This spray paint gives great coverage my little plate is holding jewels at the moment, it’s so lovely to see it being used.
What a brilliant idea! I’ve got so many keepsakes in our cabinet that really should be on display.

Thank you Lauren, Ain’t it the truth, they need to be on display and this is a super easy way to bring them out, there is a great range of colours too.
Wow. She’s gorgeous. And that paint is amazing. I’m looking round my house wondering what I can find to spray paint! Xx

It’s such a simple thing to do to make new pieces for your home with existing keepsakes or objects you already have.have a great weekend lovely.x
Too cute! What a great quirky plate you have now. I love that you’ve surrounded yourself with special things rather than bought something.
That is so cool and so Yamba scandi! I love it! The only keepsake I’ve got from my nana is a knitted loo roll dolly – I don’t think she’d look so good spray painted so she’ll have to continue to live out her days in the bathroom cupboard!

This is so cool! I love how you made this piece your own and how very easy it was!! You’ve encouraged me to head into the cupboard and pull out a few of those pieces I’ve been ignoring. Thank you xx
